Informal letter – Holiday or car? p.23

Dear Michael,

If you say you were able to save some money, it means you are lucky nowadays. It's good that you think what should you do with your cash instead of spending it on something unimportant.

Most people think holidays cost a lot of money. It's true when you fly to an island on the second part of the globe. You should rather think about something much cheaper. For people like us a holiday is a must. We work hard and we have to rest too. The best way to have a cheaper holiday is to hire an accommodation in the nearest mountains and just relax there for a few days. Remember that you will have very busy year at collage. Try not to spend all your savings.

If I were you, I would buy a second-hand car after holiday. Nowadays cars are quite cheap and I'm sure you won't have problems with steal. Having a car can be very useful for you at college. There is always one thousand things to do and it'll be easier for you to manage everything with a car. If you won't be able to buy one don't worry. Probably there is a good public transport near your new school. Probably you'll save some money later and maybe even buy a better car.

The most important thing for you right now should be a holiday. I'm sure that a car can wait, but of course it could be great to have one. Please write me what you decide to do.

Wishes,

XXX
